The Barracks opened in December 2008, following the redevelopment of the former Petrie Terrace Police Barracks site.
The Barracks has historical significance as Queensland’s main jail operated on the site between 1860 and 1880, until it was converted to a police accommodation, training and operations facility operating until 1987.
The redevelopment has created a modern retail and commercial precinct whilst paying homage to the rich heritage and history of the site. The property is comprised of 5 separate sectors, yet all seamlessly integrate to provide a total NLA of 19,651m2 and four level, 427 space basement carpark.
The Roma Street – Suncorp Stadium walkway dissects the Barracks which carries considerable pedestrian traffic to and from major events at Suncorp Stadium from the CBD.
The Barracks is surrounded by colour, character and rich culture. This district is renowned for diverse dining and nightlife, intimate laneways which bustle with activity, arts and culture, not to mention the proximity to Suncorp Stadium.
The Barracks is a quintessential wine and dine experience in Brisbane, and offers best in class services and general retail. All right at the doorstep of the CBD.
