Ekka Long Weekend – Trading Hours and More!

It has been two years in the making and is gearing up to be one of the biggest shows Queenslanders will see in 2022 – thats right, The Ekka Weekend is here and the 6th of August marks the start of the week-long event.

Fashion on the Field promises to be a big event this year with some fabulous prizes on offer, so whether you will be competing in the event or watching along make sure you are looking tip-top with a visit to Jessica James for the perfect blow out and a matching set from Gold Class Nails for the ladies; For the men a quick stop past Jimmy Rods Barber Shop is sure not to go amiss.

On your way to the Show we would recommend stopping past Coles for some snacks for the kids (and adults alike) for the bus or train, with both transport stops located within a quick ten minute walk from the centre. On your way home you might even stop by Libertine Bar and Restaurant for a Raspberry Snap Dragon to finish up the day.

Running since 1876 the Ekka needs no introduction. Although, this year they have upped their game with the introduction of new entertainment, over 400 showbags, and new competitions in order to make sure this Royal Queensland Show is one to remember.

The show is running events for every age and every interest; From Monster Truck Circus Shows, to performances by the likes of Amy Sheppard, to Cradle-a-Chick for the kids.

Of course the family fun filled day out at the EKKA can not be complete until you have made your way down to the iconic strawberry sundae stand, where all proceeds go towards the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation to fund vital medical research.

If big crowds and loud events aren’t your cup of tea, not to worry, Palace Cinemas is running the Twilight saga movie marathon of all 5 films on the 6th of August that runs through the night so you can embrace your inner vampire and answer the age old question – are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?
